Immunizations

Immunizations / TB Testing:

Immunization is one of modern medicine’s greatest success stories.

Each year, immunization prevents millions of deaths in all age groups from diseases like diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), meningitis, influenza and measles. While some of these diseases are not common here in the U.S., they persist around the world and are simply a plane ride away. Outbreaks of vaccine-preventable diseases can and do occasionally still occur in this country.

The goal of Tuscola County Health Department’s Immunization program is to provide fact based information, education and all recommended vaccines to infants, children, adolescents and adults. It is important that we continue to protect our children, ourselves, and our community with vaccines.

Virtual Non-Medical Exemption (Waiver) Process

The Tuscola County Health Department has implemented a virtual non-medical exemption (waiver) process for your convenience.

To begin, please click the button below to start the required waiver education session:

STEP 1

You must complete the entire education session. Once finished, you will come back to this page on or website and click the Non-Medical Exemption Agreement link where you will provide permission for TCHD to complete your non-medical waiver in the Michigan Care Improvement Registry (MCIR):

STEP 2

If you choose not to accept the electronic signature option, you must contact the TCHD office to schedule an in-person appointment to complete the non-medical waiver signing process.

Please allow up to 3 business days for staff to process your request in MCIR before contacting your school or daycare to confirm completion.

If you have questions or need assistance, please contact the Tuscola County Health Department.

As of 2/9/2026 you will now need to complete the MIWAIV online education and then sign the Exemption Agreement by clicking the above links. Your child must reside in Tuscola County or go to school in Tuscola County to receive a waiver through Tuscola County Health Department. Please call if you have had an address change from another county and now live in Tuscola County so we can update this information.
