Sexual Risk Avoidance
Sexual Risk Avoidance: Empowering Youth Today
Empowering Youth Today is a youth development program that engages youth with their family, school and community. It promotes the benefits of delaying sexual activity and other risky behaviors to ensure a happy and healthy future that doesn’t involve sexually transmitted infections or teen pregnancy.
EYT utilizes the evidence-based curriculum “Choosing the Best” which covers a number of life skills associated with self-regulation, healthy relationships, boundary setting, assertiveness, and avoiding drugs and alcohol.

Parent involvement plays a big role in a student’s decision to delay sexual activity which is why EYT focuses on increasing the communication between youth and their caregivers on such important topics.

EYT funding is made possible through The Administration on Children, Youth, and Families, Family & Youth Services Bureau, and The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
