Thumb Steps Up

Welcome to the Thumb Steps Up Website!  We hope that as a result of this project our community and those who live here will become healthier.

2007-2010 Strategic Plan

Life is busier than ever for today's families.  Making healthy eating choices and finding time to be active is not easy!  All of us need the support of our family, co-workers, boss, and community to make healthy choices each and every day.

In 2003, a group of local hospitals, health departments, and MSU Extension offices began working on a plan to help businesses, stores, cities, and individuals like you!  Thumb Steps Up Partners submitted a grant to the Office of Rural Health Policy, HRSA, U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.  A 3-year $494,447 project was approved with a federal award of $375,000.  Matching funds are planned from local contributors, donations of time and supplies from Thumb Steps Up Partners, and other local businesses.  The award enabled the Thumb Steps Up Partners to move forward with plans for walking programs, community changes, marketing messages, and assistance to stores, restaurants, and worksites.

Through the Thumb Steps Up project, we hope to give you the information and support to Move More and Eat Healthier! Select one of the following links to find out how we can help you or your organization!
