Description of ServicesThe collaborative arrangement between HDI OB-GYN and Midwifery Services and Tuscola County Health Department allows the provision of quality prenatal care to women from the Thumb of Michigan. By increasing the number of women having access to prenatal care, it is intended to assist with the reduction of infant mortality. This co-venture has allowed each entity to do what it does best. HDI OB-GYN and Midwifery Services provides obstetrical care services by physicians and certified nurse midwives and the Health Department provides health promotion, prevention, and education services. The primary goal of this partnership is to provide early intervention and improved access to prenatal care and assist with the reduction of the infant mortality rate with a resultant of a healthier birth outcome. Eligibility for ServicesThe Prenatal Clinic is for all women of all economic groups. The clinic accepts most major medical insurances, as well as Medicaid. If a woman has no health insurance, she is assisted in investigating programs available to her for financial assistance, or a payment plan may be tailored to her financial ability. No client will be refused service due to the inability to pay. Clinic or Service LocationsThe Prenatal Clinic operates at the Tuscola County Health Department one day per week. Offsite services, such as ultrasounds, emergency visits, delivery, and outpatient services, occur at Bay Regional Medical Center in Bay City or at other local hospitals if deemed necessary. Hours of ServiceClinic hours every Monday from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon. Appointments are required to receive services.
