The purpose of the Maternal
Infant Health Program is to reduce infant mortality
and morbidity.
|
The MIHP Program is intended to help
pregnant and infant Medicaid recipients who are most likely
to experience serious health problems due to psychosocial or
nutritional problems. This program is intended to
supplement regular medical care and to assist the client's
health care provider in management of client's health and
well-being. The client's health care provider can
include physicians and midlevel practitioners who are
enrolled in the Medicaid Program per DHS guidelines.
The focus of the MIHP Program is the
family. MIHP services encompass such things as
counseling, health education, transportation needs, client
advocacy and care coordination. These services are
provided by a multidisciplinary team which includes nursing,
dietician, and social work.
